  • 1. Tax questions?

    Fort Bend Central Appraisal District does not levy taxes, set the tax rate or collect any taxes. We ONLY appraise property for Fort Bend County.
    Regarding your Fort Bend County tax bill please contact the Fort Bend County Tax Office at 281-341-3710.
    For school, MUD or LID taxes please contact each taxing entity directly.

  • 2. I just purchased my home when will I see my name on the website?

    The website shows 2015 Preliminary data as of May 1, 2015. All ownership changes after May 1, 2015 will be put on hold due to conflicts with the Online Protest process. Once Certification is complete in July the website will be changed to show 2015 Certified data with current ownership.
  • 3. My address is incorrect how do I get it changed?

    A "Request for Change of Address" form must be submitted in writing and signed by the owner.

    The form can be found on the main website on the link "Forms". Under the section "Change Forms"

    Please Note: Address changes can only be made with the signed written request of the Actual Owner as listed on the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District records or by the Owners Agent (designated by fiduciary appointment of agent on file at the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District.)

    Please print and complete the form.

  • 4. My name is spelled wrong. How can I get it corrected?

    Confirm the name is spelled correctly on the deed filed by your title company.
    If the name is spelled incorrectly on the deed, the title company will need to file a correction deed to correct the spelling.
    If the deed has the correct spelling and Fort Bend Central Appraisal District has the incorrect spelling in our system then please contact us directly and we will make the correction.

  • 5. I no longer live at this address what do I need to do?

    If you no longer own the property then no action is required.
    We will update our records when the deed is filed by the title company with the Fort Bend County Clerk's Office.
    If you still own the property and have a Homestead Exemption then a "Request to Remove a Homestead" form must be submitted in writing.
    The form can be found on the main website on the link "Forms". Under the section "Exemption Forms" If you still own the property and do not have a Homestead Exemption then a "Request for Change of Address or Ownership" form must be submitted in writing and signed by the owner.

  • 6. On the website it shows my property as "Deed with Warranty Lien". Who has a lien on my property?

    The description viewed on the website in the transfer document deed type filed by the title company with the County Clerk's office at the time of the transfer.
    The description does not show the current status of a deed.
    We will only change the status if a new or updated deed is filed with the County Clerk's office.
  • 7. How do I submit for an Open Records request?

    All open records request must be submitted in writing by mail, fax or in person.
    Please include as much detail regarding your request and your full contact information when submitting your request.
  • 8. I appointed a tax agent to protest my value for me and how can I get an update on the decision?

    If the decision was made at the "Informal Process" please contact your agent directly.
    If the decision was made at the ARB (Appraisal Review Board) process then all decisions are mailed to the agent and the owner.
  • 9. When can I apply for a homestead on my property?

    You must be OWNER and OCCUPY the property as of January 1st of the year you are applying for.
    You occupied the home as your principal residence on January 1st.
    You and/or your spouse do not claim a residence homestead exemption on any other property.

  • 10. What are the new changes to the Residence Homestead Exemptions and do I need to reapply every year?

    No, you do not have to reapply every year.

    House Bill 252 sets forth new requirements for the application, including requiring the property owner to state on the application form that the owner is not claiming a residence homestead exemption on another residence homestead in or outside Texas.

    New documentation must be submitted with a residence homestead application
    -A copy of a driver’s license or state-issued personal identification certificate AND
    -A copy of a vehicle registration receipt. If the applicant does not own a vehicle, an affidavit to that effect signed by the applicant. AND
    -A copy of a utility bill in the applicant’s name for the property for which exemption is sought.
